HOME DECOR .....Timeless or Trendy in 2015?Whether you want to take small steps to refresh the look of your home or want to tackle larger renovation projects, by following these steadfast ideas, it’s easy to stay on trend while paying tribute to classic design. You can have the best of both worlds for timeless decor that can easily transition with you through the years.(BPT) - Are you looking for ways to update your home this new year? With so many fresh interior ideas available, it can be difficult to balance current design trends with classic styles for a look that is both of-the-moment and everlasting. Follow these guidelines to find a way to blend now and forever for a look you will love today and tomorrow. Focus on the foundation As you are laying the groundwork in your kitchen, bath or bedroom, the key is to keep it timeless. Flooring, cabinetry, lighting and fixtures should possess clean, traditional lines and classic finishes. If it’s time to do a complete overhaul of your home, you may be tempted to invest in the latest and greatest in materials and furniture offerings, but sometimes the simplest of tweaks can bring your existing pieces up to date. For example, your sofa may have great structure, but could use a bit of reupholstering. Or perhaps your oak kitchen cabinets are an ageless shape, but could be transformed by painting them a fresh color and swapping out the hardware. Much like a smart wardrobe, as long as you have the basics, minor updates can be made throughout the years by adding small touches in the form of accessories, paint, new hardware and other alterations. Incorporate color Taking a classic space and transforming it when you have an itch to try something new is done easily with paint. For 165 years, Pratt & Lambert Paints has been synonymous with recognizing the shifts and nuances of home style and design. In the true fashion of merging timeless with trendy, the brand has recently released its 2015 Color Trends Forecast, called Origins, which goes full circle from essential neutrals to progressive pops of color. Consider spicing up your kitchen with colors from the Cadence palette. The collection focuses on co-mingling of cultures, and what better place to feature these hues than the room where flavors from all over the world are literally coming together on a daily basis? Pratt & Lambert colors Baby Carrot (8-11) and Vibrant Red (4-12) can make a statement throughout the entire space, or just on an accent wall near a breakfast nook. Many people seek to transform their current bath into a soothing, spa-like retreat. To capture that feeling, paint walls and even ceilings the cool or deep bold colors of water - much like those included in the Chronicles trend that speak to hues straight from the depths of the ocean. Look to the Pratt & Lambert shades Blue Zircon (23-13), Glacial (27-2) and the Color of the Year, Noir (24-16). A bedroom is a place for rest – a calm, down-to-earth haven. Pratt & Lambert’s two trend palettes, Elemental and Terra, are the perfect pick for the place in which you recharge. Interior designer and Pratt & Lambert Style & Design Guild memberLaura Kirar recommends shades Tobacco (33-19) and Feather Gray (32-37) from the Elemental palette. They are sure to provide many nights of peaceful slumber. Include the harmonious hues of the Terra palette, Rye (12-26) and Zinc (14-20), for a natural, relaxed vibe. A dash of detail Now with a solid foundation and freshly painted walls, move to the decorations that will truly transform your home. Remember – small pieces can make a grand statement, so pick and choose how you will incorporate trendy accessories like table lamps, hand towels, planters, window coverings, pillows, throws or table settings. If you want to go bold with hues or graphic prints, now is your chance to infuse colors in small doses. That’ll make it easy and more cost-effective to swap out or mix and match accessories in the future. Whether you want to take small steps to refresh the look of your home or want to tackle larger renovation projects, by following these steadfast ideas, it’s easy to stay on trend while paying tribute to classic design. You can have the best of both worlds for timeless decor that can easily transition with you through the years. Bangor's Dylan Benton jumps high to score during the undefeated Slaters' 55-36 win over Northern Lehigh Thursday night in Bill Pensyl Gym. Police in New Zealand have apologised after claiming that an 'Irish' driver had been pulled over for strapping a kayak sideways on his car.
It later turned out that the man was actually from Auckland, New Zealand's biggest city, and that the wind had blown the canoe sideways. Officers released a statement headed: "What were you thinking? Police ask Irish tourist", and a photo of Jonathan Waters' car. Describing him as a "visitor from Ireland", the statement also mentioned other overseas tourists who had been involved in traffic collisions. Mr Waters is told the Stuff.nz website the wind was to blame for rotating the kayak, and the police officer had actually been helping him to rectify the problem, rather than reprimanding him for dangerous driving. Police say the officer involved had assumed the man was Irish due to his accent, but hadn't checked his identity documents, the New Zealand Herald reports. "While the man was a visitor to the region, he was not Irish and as a result Waikato police wish to offer an unreserved apology to any persons of Irish descent we may have offended," says Insp Freda Grace. |

Willie Watson (Born September 23, 1979) is a singer-songwriter, guitarist, and banjo player born in Watkins Glen, New York, who was a founding member of Old Crow Medicine Show. His debut solo album Folk Singer, Vol. I, was released in May 2014 and he appeared at the 2014 Newport Folk Festival. Raised in Upstate New York around Ithaca, he currently resides in Topanga, California. Watson's transition to solo appearance began slowly with an invitation from siblings Sean and Sara Watkins to join them on a Cayamo cruise—a "singer-songwriter, folk, rootsy festival on a ship around the Bahamas] In 2012–2013 Watson began appearing in venues in and around Venice Beach, California, making appearances with the John C. Reilly band and John Prine, and opening for acts such as Punch Brothers, Sarah Jarosz, and Dawes. Initially he was performing original music, then realized he got more out of performing the old songs—and his audience seemed to enjoy them more. In 2014 he performed at SXSW in Austin, Stagecoach Music Festival in Indio, California, Newport Folk Festival in Rhode Island, Pickathon Music Festival in Oregon, Fayetteville Roots Festival in Arkansas, and Steelfest in Missouri. Columcille Women's Retreat Columcille's Annual Women's Retreat will once again be held at the Kirkridge Farmhouse.
Keeping with tradition, the Women of Columcille are invited to come celebrate and honor the beloved Brighid, Goddess of Fire and Water. It is also that time of year when life slowly begins to flow and move underneath. It is the return of 'Light', the beginning of Spring also known as Imbolc 'flowing of ewe's milk' when it was all agrarian society. Celebrate and prepare yourselves for the return of 'Light' once again through ceremony, song, ritual and camaraderie of all your Sistars or just take 'me' time, walk the land, meditate and reflect! In ritual, open yourselves to the loving transmuting energy of the Violet Flame, and then dive deep into the healing Sacred Water... discover how deep your connection to Water is... maybe even learn there is a Mermaid inside you! Be transformed with a powerful Divination Circle. Of course, there is play time for the 'inner child' to create and express herself with our craft time! Later they honor Brighid with a healing Fire ceremony, followed by a deeply bonding bonfire gathering with song, chants, and 'placing of cloths' for Brighid's Blessings. Then off 'steam' from all that fire work with a pulsating drumming circle! Gift yourself with the richly rewarding and fulfilling retreat experience, whether it be just one day or the whole weekend. It promises to be one of joy, growth, new friends, self-discovery and empowerment - doing 'inner work' has never been so rewarding! January 31

Alive Inside is a joyous cinematic exploration of music’s capacity to reawaken our souls and uncover the deepest parts of our humanity. His camera reveals the uniquely human connection we find in music and how its healing power can triumph where prescription medication falls short. This stirring documentary follows social worker Dan Cohen, founder of the nonprofit organization Music & Memory, as he fights against a broken healthcare system to demonstrate music’s ability to combat memory loss and restore a deep sense of self to those suffering from it. Rossato-Bennett visits family members who have witnessed the miraculous effects of personalized music on their loved ones, and offers illuminating interviews with experts including renowned neurologist and best-selling author Oliver Sacks (Musicophilia: Tales of Music and the Brain) and musician Bobby McFerrin (“Don’t Worry, Be Happy”).
